MILFORD — The borough council will consider signing a contract in May that would dissolve their police department and incorporate the borough in the new Eastern Pike Regional Police Department. If approved, the agreement would likely take effect in early June and transfer all equipment to the new agency, which would maintain the Milford office. Milford’s two full-time officers and several part-timers will need to re-apply to the new department, but Borough President Matt Osterberg said two new Milford members for the governing commission will move to see that any who seek jobs will find them as the new department will need to expand to service the borough. ”This would be no reflection on our police. It’s a matter 24/7 service that we cannot afford alone... We’re doing what we think is best for the borough” he said. Milford’s police budget is $280,000. Future costs will be based on calls, he said.
