Borough-township should consolidate

MILFORD - It’s getting too expensive to run Milford Borough and Milford Township separately, according to former borough mayor and county commissioner Randolph “Skip” Gregory. Gregory suggested to the borough council earlier this month that they should begin thinking about merging the two municipalities. While he has not researched the details, Gregory cites likely savings in services and ending duplication of highway maintenance equipment and insurance costs. Gregory’s suggestion did not prompt discussion from the council. Borough President Matthew Osterberg remarked later, “It’s been suggested before.” Milford was a part of the township until the creation of the borough in 1874.
