DUNMORE PennDOT says nearly 160 bridges received attention during PennDOT District 4’s “Bridge Week” in October. Repairs varied by bridge, but some of the more common maintenance activities included improving bridge drainage, erosion repair of the stream bed around bridges, shoulder repair, bridge approach and deck patching, replacing or upgrading highway signs and vegetation management. “During bridge week, we not only were able to get a jump start on preserving our bridges, but we also positioned the bridges to better endure winter’s ravages,” said PennDOT engineer Dennis Giordano.
