MILFORD - Barbara J. Buchanan is a long time supporter of United Way, going back to her days as senior campaign manager during her years in New Orleans. When a United Way organization was formed in Pike County, she was quick to become a charter board member and campaign chair during its first few years to success. So it was a pleasant, but not unexpected treat when Buchanan paid a visit to the current board of directors to present them with a generous check for $1,000. In making the presentation to Board President Peter Ioppolo, Buchanan commented that although her commitment to Pike United Way goes back to its beginnings, it’s really the human services and initiatives that they have fostered in the community day in day out, year in and year out, that refreshes her enthusiasm and commitment. Said Buchanan, “Pike United Way is really committed to our community and citizens, and that cements my commitment to Pike United Way”. Ioppolo noted that he was impressed by the steadfast generosity of Buchanan and said that he was thankful for her continued support. Her continued presence has helped triple the campaign goal which is $150,000 this year. With the help of people like Buchanan, Pike County employers, and gifts large and small from many citizens, we are confident that we will meet this goal. Buchanan closed her visit by urging the public to join her in making a gift, and asking them to remember that every gift, to the United Way of Pike County, large or small, is important and will help to maximize services for those in Pike County who are in need. Pike United Way welcomes corporate and employee plans, groups, and participation by individuals like you.
