Builders' code course at Hampton Inn
MATAMORAS The Pike & Wayne County Builders Association will be hosting a 2009 International Residential Code (IRC) Course on Wednesday, Dec. 16, at The Hampton Inn Matamoras. The course will take place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and is essential to all contractors for the correct application of the building code changes. Under the new Uniform Construction Code, all residential contractors must comply with the 2009 International Residential Code which will go into effect on Dec. 31. The course will enable the contractors to make orderly changes to home plans and specifications as required by code. Additionally, participants will gain an understanding of the cost implications associated with the required changes and a thorough understanding of the IRC. The course instructor is a certified trained instructor from the Pennsylvania Housing Research Center at State College. Cost to attend the course is $95 for members of the Pike County Builders Association and $150 for non-members. Each participant will receive an instructional workbook, beverages, a light breakfast and lunch. A copy of the 2009 IRC book is required and will be available for purchase at an additional cost of $80. Registration and book orders must be paid prior to the course. Space is limited to only 30 participants so early registration is encouraged. Participants will receive a certification upon completion of the course.
