Businesses sponsor library expansion kick-off event
PEEC to host April 14 gala MILFORD - The Building Task Force of the Pike County Public Library reports that “Enchanted April,” the April 14 dinner dance to launch the Capital Campaign to construct a new central library, has already received the generous support of a number of local businesses and more are expected. “The outpouring of support from local businesses to help underwrite our costs means that more funds will flow directly to the Building Fund for the new library,” said Rebecca Lindsey, chairperson of the event and Task Force member. “We are so deeply appreciative of the generous donations and in-kind services provided by these local businesses. This kind of giving is a hallmark of the community spirit within our growing county and will be critical in enabling us to raise additional funds in the future,” she added. All residents of Pike County are invited to attend this festive evening, which will be held at the new Visitor Activity Center at the Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) in Dingmans Township from 6 to 10 p.m. PenTeleData is sponsoring the pre-dinner reception, which begins at 6 p.m. Wayne Bank is sponsoring the 7:30 p.m. dinner, and The Biondo Group is underwriting the musical entertainment. Century 21 Roy B. Hull, Pocono Interiors and the law firm of Rosenn, Jenkins and Greenwald have also provided generous contributions. In-kind services and contributions are being provided by Prime Time Meats, 7th Street Coffee on Broad and Myer the Florist, which is generously supplying flowers and plants for the evening. China service settings will be provided courtesy of Royal Doulton. Carly and Michael Workstel of the local graphic design firm, Carmichael Productions, assisted with invitations, posters and other printed materials. A sumptuous meal will be created by Chef Peter Daniel and Sharon Daniel of Le Gorille, one of Pike County’s most outstanding restaurants. Randy Auman of aumandesign, and Jim Vandevender, are donating their outstanding decorating services. “There is an open invitation to all residents of Pike County to join us for this exciting event,” said Charles Eible, president of the Pike County Public Library Board of Directors and Task Force member. “While printed invitations will be sent to an existing mailing list, we don’t have a budget large enough to send invitations to all of the library supporters within the county. We want everyone to attend this milestone kickoff dinner, which will mark the launch of a multi-year fundraising campaign to construct a new, cutting edge central library for our county,” he added. The evening’s festivities include a reception, followed by dinner and dancing, featuring the big band sounds of the Dewey Decimal Dance Band. The fundraising portion of the evening will be dedicated to securing contributions and pledges to furnish the Children’s Area of the new library, which is projected to be approximately 2,500 square feet, or the size of the entire current central library. In addition to delicious food, music and dancing, the evening will include discussion of the future of the library, the goals for the capital campaign, and presentation of the plans for the building by the building architect, who will be selected from among three finalists currently vying for the honor of designing the new building. To purchase tickets, contact Karen Porter, at 570-296-7705. Tickets are $150 per person, $100 of which is a tax-deductible contribution to the capital campaign.
