Call for green energy nominations
SCRANTON The Northeast Pennsylvania Business Journal will honor the “Power of New Energy” in Pennsylvania at the World Green Energy Symposium, Sept. 13 through Sept.15 at the Wachovia Arena. Regional green powerhouse awards categories include: Best green building design; a new construction that incorporates energy efficiency, green building principles, and efficient waste management, IT/Technology: best use of technology to advance green energy principles, Leader/Person of the Year: an individual who has been an example of commitment to green energy principles and has been an effective green messenger, Nonprofit award: a nonprofit that has done much to advance the message of green energy awareness, Best green business of the year: an overall award for a business that incorporates elements of leadership, awareness, and technology and that implements green energy practices in its own company and encourages best practices in its Community and supply chain. The judges, passionate advocates of green principles, are: Michele Dempsey, president of DxDempsey, architecture & design, whose firm is committed to thoughtful, sustainable architecture; Bernie McGurl, long-time “friend of the river” and executive director of the Lackawanna River Corridor Association; Jennifer Porter of Workforce Wayne, who was active in the City of Portland’s exemplary green initiatives; Pamela A. Fendrock, outreach coordinator for PennFuture and Stephen Washington, chief of staff for state Rep. John Siptroth (D-Monroe, Pike). Nomination deadline is April 30.
