Milford — The Pike County Public Library has announced that US Rep. Chris Carney has secured an appropriation for $95,000 through the U.S. Department of Labor, Health and Human Services’ (LHHS) Institute of Museum and Library Services account for the construction of the new Dorothy E. Warner Library Headquarters and Community Center. Jenni Hamill, chair of fundraising and governmental affairs for the library building committee states, “We are extremely grateful to Congressman Carney and his staff for bringing federal dollars into our county for this important project. The Congressman has long been a supporter of public libraries and he understands the positive economic impact a vibrant library system can have on local communities. We are fortunate to have such an advocate for literacy, learning and local development representing us in Washington.” “As a former educator, I know the importance of our public libraries and what a significant difference this funding will make,” said Carney. The funds will be used for building construction, scheduled to begin in 2010.
