Future Business Leaders of America Honor Society names him, By Kimberly Montalbano WESTFALL — Delaware Valley High School senior Chad Mackey was recently honored by his acceptance into the National Business Honor Society through the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) program at the school. The society is for members who excel in academic preparation and plan to pursue a career in business. Recipients must be nominated, then apply and be chosen by a committee. Nomination requirements include at least a 3.5 GPA and a strong demonstration of leadership in FBLA. Mackey was nominated by FBLA adviser Maura Angle. “I think very highly [of Chad] because I know he is very conscientious and hard working and I know that if you give him a job he will do it the best he possibly can,” Angle said. Once Mackey knew of his nomination, he immediately applied, turning in a transcript, teacher recommendations and an essay about his future plans. “It was nice and I was honored that someone thought that highly of me to nominate me for such an award,” Mackey said. After the application and its attachments were sent, the society’s state executive committee named the winners and notified Mackey. “It is a resume builder,” Mackey said. “It will show that I have a business background.” After he graduates in June, Mackey will attend Penn State at the main campus to major in either finance or information system in technology and hopes to gain a job in finance or business. Along with his acceptance into the National Business Honor Society, Mackey also won Student of the Month for being nominated for the society. Mackey will soon be recognized at the FBLA State Conference in Hershey, April 11 to 14.
