Class of 2008 academic leaders

WESTFALL Delaware Valley High School is pleased to present the Class of 2008 valedictorian and salutatorian. The 2008 valedictorian is Eric Langberg, son of Laura and Eric Langberg of Milford. Eric is in the National Honor Society and in the Mu Alpha Theta Math Honors Society. He was a member of the Scholastic Bowl for all four years in high school, in intramurals in 9th and 10th grades and on the varsity team in 11th and 12th grades. Eric has been involved with the school newspaper, The DelAware for four years. He was the Entertainment Editor in 10th and 11th grades and the Editor-in-Chief in his senior year. Other memberships include Junior Historians, Science Olympiad, Keystone Boys State, and Model United Nations. In addition, Eric has participated in causes and groups at school and in the community such as Teens Against Tobacco Use (TATU), American Cancer Society Relay for Life, the Holiday Toy Drive, Pennsylvania “BUSTED!” commercial, Cancer Survivors’ Benefit as an organizer/volunteer and the United Way Day of Caring. Other activities include a Black Bear Film festival volunteer, Odyssey of the Mind Middle School Assistant, and a Pike County Public Library Volunteer working on the “Teen Advisory Library Kouncil” (TALK) and activities for Teen Read Week. Eric has been a member of the Foreign Film Club, Drama Club, Foreign Language Club and the Creative Writing Club. He is a Samsung American Legion Scholarship Finalist, a National Merit semifinalist, the People to People’s Student Ambassador to Malta, a DV Word War finalist and he received a Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth State SAT Recognition. Eric plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh in the fall and study Political Science and Creative Writing. The 2008 salutatorian is Margaret Palermo, daughter of Rosemary and Scott Palermo of Milford. Margaret is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta. Meg has been a member of the Drama Club, Chorus, Chamber Choir, District Chorus and County Chorus. She participated in the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership conference in 10th grade and the International Student Leadership Institiute in 10th and 11th grades. Meg volunteered in the American Cancer Society Relay for Life and with the Special Olympics. Meg is a member of the Presby Players and the Broomestreet Travelling All-Star Band. She also played in the Quartet with Nancy Cohen and she attended the US Performing Arts Camp, as well as, participating in Milford Performing Arts Center Dance Lessons. At church, Meg is a member of the All Saints’ Club, Youth Group, Young Life and Cantor. In addition, Margaret is an athlete and she had been on the DV Track and Field team for four years and the volleyball team in ninth grade. Margaret will attend American University in the fall pursuing degrees in Musical Theater and Mathematics.
