$10 haircuts to benefit breast cancer research MILFORD - Hairstylists from the Milford SmartStyle Family Hair Salon at Wal-Mart, along with thousands of SmartStyie stylists nationwide and in Canada, will contribute their time to give more than 6,000 haircuts to raise money for breast cancer research during the ninth annual SmartStyle “Clip for the Cure.” On Saturday, Sept. 30, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., stylists will offer $10 haircuts at the SmartStyle Family Hair Salon located in Wal-Mart. In addition, throughout September, SmartStyle will be selling pink breast cancer awareness bracelets for a $1 donation. Also, from Sept. 30 to Oct. 15, 10 percent of net proceeds from the sale of Regis designLINE hair care products will be contributed to the cause. “So many of our stylists, customers, and their loved ones have been affected by breast cancer,” said John Briggs, chief operating officer of SmartStyle Family Hair Salons. “We hold this event to raise funds to help fight the disease and also to raise awareness of the importance of early detection.” Regis Corporation stylists alone have raised more than $5 million for breast cancer research by hosting an array of activities from raffles to bake sales.
