Come talk or come take your bins away
Milford Frustrated by Pike County’s failure to respond to two separate requests for recycling information, the Milford Township Supervisors Monday put an ultimatum to the commissioners - come explain your policy or take the bins away. On July 7, the supervisors first asked for a county spokesman to explain Pike’s plans for the recycling program. Overflowing holiday week bins and rumors of a private takeover of the program prompted the request. Chairman Don Quick said he was not comfortable with the idea of a private firm running a program on township property which provided no revenue for Milford Township. No spokesman or explanation appeared at the board’s second meeting on July 21. The request was renewed, but once again on Monday, no one appeared. “This is a very reasonable request that we’ve made at this, the last and the meeting before that,” Quick said. Dictating a new letter on Monday, Quick said that either the county produces someone to explain, within 30 days, or they remove their recycling bins from our property. The situation was exacerbated, since the township made coincidental July requests for information about Pike’s purchase plans for the Santos Farm property. They have had no response from the county about that request either.
