Cool it at the Creamery

MILFORD — There is a new place in town to escape the summer heat and journey back to the 1950’s for your choice of ice cream, shakes, and snacks. Welcome to Broad Street Boardwalk Creamery. What started as an idea back in December, 2007 for local residents Lisa Gilpin and Cheryl McCarthy, came to life as the business opened its doors for the first time last Tuesday. “We wanted something fun for the town and someplace where the kids could go,” said Gilpin. Both proved true during the course of the interview when the after-school crowd rushed in. Gilipin said during the summer they will show 50’s films in a makeshift drive-in theatre within the store. “We are a place where a family could go out for only a little bit of money, which is important to people given our current economy,” McCarthy added. The Broad Street Boardwalk Creamery is located in the same building as 7th Street Coffee in Milford. It is open from 12 p.m.-9 p.m. on Sundays through Thursdays, and from 12 p.m.-10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Both owners say they are looking forward to having a blast running the store and invite you to join them. On Saturday, June 28, the store will hold its grand opening and will host a 1950’s car show.
