Cops nab tire slashing suspect
PORT JERVIS, N.Y. Port Jervis City Police and officers with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Police arrested Bryan E. Cash, age 33, of Orchard Street, Otisville, N.Y., at Port Jervis Police Headquarters on June 24. They charged Cash with multiple counts of Criminal Mischief in the third degree (class E felony) and Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree, class A misdemeanor, based upon a several- month investigation conducted together by both agencies into a rash of tire slashings that occurred at MTA Commuter Train station parking lots located in the City of Port Jervis and the Village of Otisville, N.Y. Police allege that the defendant slashed the tires on 17 parked vehicles at the Port Jervis train station parking lot and three vehicles parked in the Otisville platform on May 14. In addition, the defendant was charged with slashing the tires of an additional five vehicles in the City of Port Jervis on May 2 and May 19. Police estimate that over $5,000 in damage occurred to tires as a result of this incident in both municipalities. Cash is currently being held in the Port Jervis City lock-up facility pending an appearance in City Court for an arraignment.
