Court breaks record:takes in $1 million in 2009

    MILFORD — The Pike County Court of Common Pleas reports 2009 had the highest rate of collection of fines, costs, restitution and fees in the history of the Pike County Court. For the first time ever, the Court exceeded $1 million in both collections and disbursements. According to the state, Pike County disbursed almost $1.1 million in 2009. More than $450,000 the money was disbursed directly to Pike County or to its affiliated local government offices. In addition, more than $185,000 was collected and paid as restitution to victims of crimes. Additional funds were collected and paid to state and local law enforcement agencies who were involved in the investigation and arrest. The Court collection rates on fines, costs, fees and restitution over the past several years has been increasing at a rate greater than 10% per year.
