Derk enters race against Carney
FREEBURG Snyder County Commissioner Malcolm Derk has announced his candidacy for Congress in Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District. Derk will be seeking the Republican nomination to challenge incumbent Democrat Chris Carney. “I am entering this race for all of the seniors who will lose their Medicare Advantage plans, for the families who will be forced to shoulder the mounting debt due to the Federal government’s overspending; and for those who are struggling to make ends meet during this recession,” Derk said Monday night. “Your family owes an additional $44,000 because of the choices of Chris Carney, Nancy Pelosi, and the big spending measures they have supported,” Derk continued. A graduate of Selinsgrove Area High School, Derk earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Religion from Susquehanna University. Upon graduation, he acquired a position with Susquehanna University’s Business Services office, and then went on to serve as the assistant director of the Susquehanna University Fund, in the University Relations office.
