Developments and dogs in Dingman
DINGMAN “I read about the Gateway Village project in the newspaper and I am concerned,” resident Kevin Sproul told the supervisors at their Tuesday meeting. “I moved to The Woodlands with my family about six months ago and now I see that low income housing is following me. Is it going to be federally funded housing?” he asked. Supervisor’s Chair Tom Mincer said he didn’t know. “Section-eight (low-income) housing is based on funding and there is no money available for this in Dingman Township,” said Mincer. The developer’s extension time for application was going to expire on March 13 and the township has not received a request for another extension at this time, Mincer explained. In another matter, Mincer said that it was sad to see that Pike County Humane Society was having difficult times financially. “When the PCHS Director Barry Heim appeared before us this past October he said everything was fine. Now, I find out by reading the paper and seeing on TV that they are about to close. We have tried to get in touch with them but they do not return our calls,” Mincer said. “It was noted in the paper that Heim said he had received money from several municipalities mounting to about $11,800 in 2007. He failed to mention that Dingman Township gave them over one-third of that amount. We, along with Lehman Township, gave them more than fifty percent of the amount the municipalities contributed. It is upsetting that Heim left this fact out of his plea for support,” Mincer concluded.
