WESTFALL - Diane French has resided in the Delaware Valley School District for over fourteen years and is currently attending East Stroudsburg University. She is in her third year of studies and will be graduating with honors the spring of 2008 with a degree in Elementary Education. She will be inducted into Kappa Delta Pi, the prestigious Educational Honor Society in April and is currently on the dean’s list. She is married to William French. They have a fourteen-year-old daughter, Kati, who is a freshman at the Delaware Valley High School. Diane was born in Garfield New Jersey. She attended The Berkley School for Fashion Merchandising and Business and worked many years in the retail field as an assistant buyer and expediter. Working in the manufacturing field she acquired experience with contract negotiations. French moved to Pennsylvania and became a stay at home mom for seven years. She consistently volunteered in the classroom while her daughter Kati was in the primary and elementary school grades, where teachers her to return to school for teaching. French has always been actively involved in the community and is a regular participant at the school board meetings. She served on the transportation committee, and was the co-chair of the tax study commission last fall. She is a youth group leader at Saint Vincent’s Church in Dingmans Ferry and volunteers for their Summer Bible Camp. Diane has extensive experience and proven leadership qualities. She also has the advantage of seeing things from an educator’s perspective. This can only be an asset to the school board. She is deeply committed to the school district, community and above all the children and their education, she believes that all children deserve a fair and good education where none should be left at the wayside. Diane was a staunch opponent of the purchase of Santo’s Farm. Luxury items like artificial turf would not come before new roofs and clean drinking water for the children. French states; “ We are a district with the capabilities to be the best, and we can!”
