Doctor next door' is expanding

Dingmans Medical is adding 5,000 square feet for treatment and offices DELAWARE TOWNSHIP “It’s a lot of work and at the same time it’s fun getting to know the people in the area when I meet them,” said Dr. Lisa Pathak of her growing medical facility. In April, Pathak opened Dingmans Medical, a comprehensive private medical care facility on state Route 739. Dingmans Medical took over space which had been previously occupied by a deli and video store but had been vacant for over a year. Pathak said since opening just four months ago she has won approvals from Delaware Township to expand the operation with an additional 2,500 square feet. “Delaware Township was very happy to let us expand.” Her plan is to use the space which had been occupied by Pies On Pizza, which had 2,500 square feet; and construct an additional 1,500 square feet on the side of her adjoining current facility and 1,000 square feet to an area behind the former pizzeria. The doctor serves on the Bon Secours Community Hospital Medical Executive Committee and has lived in the area for five years with her husband Dr. Raj Dalavi. She is easy to talk to and presents herself as the doctor that lives next door. “I need to make my patients feel comfortable and relaxed.” In addition to her medical practice in Dingmans Ferry Pathak started a military career as a Captain in the US Air Force Reserves. She was promoted to a Major and joined the Air National Guard, and currently serves as a Reservist at Stewart Air National Guard Base in Newburgh, NY. “I wanted to give back to my country.” But why a open a medical practice in Dingmans Ferry? “We saw what we believed was a real need for increased medical services in the area. My husband and I decided to venture into opening my own private practice to try and meet those needs; and I am proud to say it is already very successful,” reported Pathak. Currently Dingmans Medical has eight examination rooms and provides varied services. Pathak herself is board certified in the fields of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Other physicians at the facility practice in the fields of podiatry, cardiology, dentistry and psychiatry with more specialized service providers to come. The front area of the facility will soon have a pharmacy to take care of prescription needs and over- the-counter medicine purchases.
