DVES student interview: An interview with Mrs. Cole

Westfall On Oct 5, sixth grade reporters Ashley Vecchio, Lexi Fean, Kelsey Polanis, Sabrina Stewart, and Drake Eshelman and I got a chance to interview our former principal, Mrs. Cole. It felt so good seeing her. We gave her a big hug when she arrived, which is what we are doing in this picture. I couldn’t believe it; we are seeing the principal that we have known since kindergarten. Then we went into a room where we interviewed her. We wrote this story for our school’s newspaper, The Smile-O Gram. Mrs. Cole has been doing a lot since she retired two years ago. She worked on her 50th class reunion PowerPoint. She is a chairperson and treasurer of a county group, and she is a president of a university group. Her PowerPoint went very well, and she even made a yearbook for her classmates. She already knew how to insert words and import pictures, but she did find out how to do transitions. She doesn’t teach college courses any more, but she still volunteers in the community. She does exchange clubs, sells hot dogs, and gives out flags for some of these groups. She still gets up pretty early and goes to bed late around 1:30 a.m. She likes not being as busy as she was when she was a principal, but she does miss everyone at the school She absolutely most misses seeing the DVES kids, and she always loved tutoring them. She does have a few kids who visit her and a few that she tutors where she lives. She does stay in touch with the DVES staff, students, and families. She thinks any changes that have been made are good changes. Mrs. Cole is unbelievably thrilled that DVE-TV is in its 18th year. She also wants to say, “Keep doing what you are doing. Make sure you study hard, and know that the people in the school are there to help and care about you. DVES is an amazing school.” She said that she even still brags about us and whenever our school is in the news she shows everyone in her family. Thank you so much Mrs. Cole for the interview.
