Edlelman to head NJ athletic directors

Milford resident in his 27th year at Sussex County school VERNON, N.J. — Bill Edelman, Milford resident and Vernon Township High School athletic director has been appointed President of the Directors of Athletic Association of New Jersey (DAANJ), which represents 434 member schools and 260,000 student athletes. With the start of the 2010-11 school year, Edelman begins his twenty-seventh year at Vernon and has been the athletic director since 1994. He supervises 28 varsity sports with a total of 52 levels. He is a former executive committee member of the New Jersey State interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) and a former member of the NJSIAA Eligibility Appeals Committee. Edelman has coached basketball at both the high school and college level. He graduated with a BS degree in Health and Physical Education from Springfield College in Springfield, Mass. and a MS degree in Health Education from the University of Oregon where he also served as a Graduate Teaching Fellow. He received his Supervisory Certification from the New Jersey City University. Bill also serves as District Director of Health and Physical Education for the Vernon Township School District. Bill is married to his wife Sherri and they have two children who attend the Delaware Valley School District; Josh in 10th grade and Mikaela in 8th grade.
