FAA: military likely noise culprits
Dingman - The Federal Aviation Administration told a Conashaugh Lakes resident that military planes based at Stewart Airport were likely responsible for the late night, early morning aircraft noise disturbing some Dingman-Delaware area residents. Judy Faretra, who earlier said she considered listing her home because of the noise, said she spoke to Bob Fearence at the Allentown FAA office. Fearence confirmed the conversation to the Courier but stopped short of naming the 105th Airlift Wing, based at Stewart as the noise maker. No spokesperson for the New York Air National Guard unit could be reached as the newspaper went to press. “It could also be a freight shipper,” Fearence said. He said the water and cold magnify the sound. But noise is not a safety issue and the FAA “can do nothing to regulate noise,” Fearence said.
