WESTFALL — For the second year in a row, the Delaware Valley Football Booster Club hosted a pep rally before kickoff of the varsity team’s first home game against East Stroudsburg South. At least 28 booths registered for a place on the field next to Warrior Stadium, including DV high school activities like basketball and swimming, and community organizations like Young Life and the Ecumenical food pantry. The Booster Club enjoyed success at last year’s festival, and hoped to further promote a sense of school spirit and camaraderie this year with additional games, activities, and concessions. Beside a donated car, scribbled with “Crush the Cavaliers” and designated for smashing with a sledge hammer, a dunking tank was the center of entertainment. Assistant high school principal Chris Ross and teachers John Farrell, Evan Bates and Don Leiva-Vazquez perched on the tank’s bench for an hour each, as students lined up to pay for three chances to plunge them. Sarah Wright, a senior, has so far attended the rally both years. “The festival was a great way to start off the season,” she said. “And who doesn’t enjoy a good car smashing for school spirit?” Proceeds from the festival will benefit the booster club and Warrior Football program.
