Forbes and Caridi announce commissioners reelection bid

MILFORD - Pike County Commissioners Harry Forbes and Rich Caridi are running for re-election. The majority Republican pair on the three-man panel formally announced their candidacy last week. According to their statement, “They bring to the county strong backgrounds in local municipal government, personal business experience, and emergency services. Harry is a resident of Milford Township and has served as a Commissioner for eleven years. He has also served as a Milford Township Supervisor and is a life member of the Milford Fire and Ambulance Department.” Caridi is a resident of Blooming Grove Township and has served as a Commissioner for three years. He has also served as a Blooming Grove Township Supervisor, and is a continuing member of the Blooming Township Planning Commission. Caridi was previously elected five times to serve on the Wallenpaupack Area School Board for a total of eighteen years, and served as Warden of the Pike County Correctional Facility. They are requesting the continued support of the citizens of Pike County “so that the initiatives that they have undertaken, for the benefit of all Pike County residents, will be sustained and expanded.” Those initiatives have covered the entire scope of county government. The candidates statement highlighted advances made in the areas of environmental conservation, community planning, and fortified emergency services. As Commissioners, Forbes and Caridi worked to provide resources to local governments so that present and future municipal leaders may take advantage of county support to address the growth needs of their own communities. “One of the top priorities that they have established during their term in office has been to make county resources available to townships and boroughs by networking with county personnel for grant writing as well as developing access to state funds that would make these funding streams accessible to local governments.” The commissioners reported that “these significant accomplishments have been made within a fiscally sound administration and through cost-effective decision-making in the use of tax-payer dollars.”
