MILFORD n Father Eric Bergman, a former Episcopal clergyman, and now a newly ordained Catholic priest, will speak at Saint Patrick’s Church on the evening of June 5th at 7 p.m. Father Bergman is a married man with four young children. He was ordained in the Diocese of Scranton on April 21 through the Pastoral Provision initiated by the late Pope John Paul II. This provision is a means to reconcile Anglican Christians to the Catholic Church. Father Bergman serves in Scranton as the Chaplain of the St. Thomas More Society, a community of converts to Catholicism who have retained certain elements of their Anglican heritage, most notably in the celebration of the Anglican Usage of the Roman Rite Mass. Six Catholic priests from the diocese of Scranton have been trained in this Anglican Usage Mass. Father Bergman will speak on the topic “Reconciling Anglicans to Mother Church: The Origin, Mission, and Ministry of the St. Thomas More Society”. A question and answer session will follow. Coffee and cake will be served. All are welcome at the church hall at Saint Patrick’s to hear Father Bergman describe his faith journey. Saint Patrick’s Church is located at 111 E. High Street, Milford. For further information or directions, call 570-296-7451.
