Friends in need of homes
PORT JERVIS - Gumby got his name because he has worn his teeth down to stubs somehow. However, he chews just fine and loves to eat. He is a 5-year-old altered male pit bull terrier. His coloring is a nice medium brown with white markings. Gumby is a little on the timid side and seems to be afraid of the cats at the shelter. The shelter thinks he’s housebroken and would be good with anything. He’s great when getting a bath, wagging his tail the whole time. Zhen is a 2 year old black and white short haired altered male cat. He is declawed and was left abandoned at the shelter. He is a friendly fellow and will make a nice pet. If you are interested in adopting a pet, please call or visit the Humane Society of Deerpark/Port Jervis at 202 Rt. 209 North during the following hours: Tuesday through Sunday. The shelter is closed every Monday. Call 845-856-3677. or visit www.pjhs.petfinder.com. and www.pjhumane.org. On Oct. 8 the shelter will be hosting its 14th annual “Walk For Our Shelter Pets” event at the Neversink Valley Area Museum. This year they would again like to offer incentives such as T-shirts for all walkers and nice prizes for those who gather the most pledges. They need financial support to pay for these expenses and help maximize the profit that will go to the animals. The walk is organized and staffed by volunteers so all profits from the walk will go directly to the care of homeless animals in our area. They need sponsors for this event to make it a success. Anyone interested in being a sponsor for this event should contact the shelter for more information.
