Help coming to fund medical treatment expenses for local businessman MILFORD — There will be a benefit buffet dinner for David Gates on Monday March 16, from 7 to 10 p.m. in Jorgenson’s At The Dimmick Inn. Milford Borough President Matt Osterberg on Monday noted that Gates was appointed to the borough planning commission in January but has not been able to attend because of illness. He urged residents to participate and help a neighbor, “In as much as any of us might need it.” Many borough residents have noticed that David Gates has not been behind the counter of his 7th Street Coffee in quite a few months. One year ago, Gates who is 33 years-old, was diagnosed with a rare cancer. Since then he has endured surgery to remove the original tumor followed by several rounds of chemotherapy. Post-chemotherapy, David was told that there were still several masses throughout his body that had not responded to the treatment and would need to be removed surgically. Last month he and his wife travelled to Indianapolis where he underwent a massive, combined surgery (chest and abdomen) performed by two pioneers in the field of this cancer. This was a very costly endeavor. While all signs are indicating that Gates will make a full recovery, he does have one more major surgery to go as soon as he recovers from the previous surgery. The proceeds from this benefit will go to Gates to help offset his medical and travel expenses during this difficult time. Anyone wishing to make a donation can see Beth at MailNet on W. Harford Street for information. Dinner will include an Italian Buffet with cash bar. There will be a silent auction, door prize and music. Tickets are $50 per person available at: MailNet of Milford, The Dimmick Inn, Golden Fish Art Gallery, Jorgenson’s Deli, 7th Street Coffee, and Reigning Cats & Dogs.
