2006 Milford ‘Lock-Up’ to raise thousands for MDA MILFORD - On Dec. 12, area citizens will be “locked up” at the Cliff Park Inn and Golf and will be demonstrating “having a big heart for Jerry’s kids.” They’re volunteering to be “arrested and serve time” in a mock jail to raise money for the local Muscular Dystrophy Association. The Milford Lock-Up is in need of local volunteers to help assist with driving “Jailbirds” to their “jail cells” or helping at the Cliff Park Inn and Golf. Our honorary judge will sentence each participant to “raise bail” by calling friends and encouraging contributions to advance MDA’s lifesaving programs. Anyone interested in volunteering or if any restaurants are interested in donating food for the event, they can contact the local MDA office at 570-562-1745 or email, ddudley@mdausa.org. The Milford Lock-Up will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 12, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cliff Park Inn and Golf, 155 Cliff Park Road, in Milford. The Muscular Dystrophy Association is a voluntary health agency aimed at conquering 43 neuromuscular diseases that affect more than a million Americans. MDA combats neuromuscular diseases through programs of worldwide research, comprehensive local services and far reaching professional and public health education. In addition to funding groundbreaking research, MDA maintains some 230 clinics nationwide, including Geisinger Wyoming Valley and the Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. MDA also sponsors local support groups and a summer camp for kids with muscle wasting diseases. MDA seeks no government grants, United Way funds, or fees from patients or their families enabling those who receive aid from the association to do so free of charge.
