Heroin ring leader sentenced
MILFORD Pike County District Attorney Raymond Tonkin last week announced that convicted drug dealer Wayne Allen Smith was sentenced in Pike County Court. Smith, age 30, of Milford was sentenced on Sept. 10 by President Judge Joseph F. Kameen for leading a heroin distribution ring that spanned throughout the tri-state area. Smith was sentenced to a state correctional facility for 10 to 20 years, ordered to pay a fine of $40,000 and had his driver’s license suspended for two years. Smith was convicted by a Pike County Jury on July 22, on three counts of Delivery of heroin, one count of Criminal Conspiracy to Deliver heroin, and three counts of Criminal Use of a Communication facility, all felonies. Between Oct. 15, 2008 and Oct. 29, 2008 Smith arranged four separate sales of heroin to an undercover investigator.
