High school raises Dollars for Dogs

WESTFALL The Junior Historians recently held a fundraiser at Delaware Valley High School to raise money and awareness for the Pike County Humane Society. Junior Historians, Kayla Orben and Alyssa Tomaskovic, assisted by teacher, Tauni Ruvolis, organized a hugely successful event as they enlisted the help of many students and staff members to raise over $700 and boxes of needed shelter supplies. They also signed up a list of students to volunteer their time at the shelter. Mrs. Knash’s class took a special interest in the fundraiser. Her students took a field trip to Walmart to purchase shelter supplies with money that their parents had donated. During the fundraiser, students helped to educate their peers about the efforts that PCHS puts forth everyday to save the lives and find homes for abandoned, neglected, injured, and homeless dogs and cats, as well as many other animals, and that if PCHS is not there to help there are no other agencies equipped to handle this need in Pike County.
