Inspector leery of new law

Milford — Township Building Inspector Russell Current is skeptical of any great consumer protection impact resulting from a new home contractor registration law taking effect in July. Current said Tuesday that a complaint and violation list to track contractors uses corporate and business names. “So if you have a record, you just change the corporation name and you get a clean slate,” he said. “I don’t know how the state is going to implement this by July 1. They still haven’t set a fee,” he added. The law will require all home improvement contractors doing business in PA to register with the state Attorney General’s office.
