Inspector leery of new law
Milford Township Building Inspector Russell Current is skeptical of any great consumer protection impact resulting from a new home contractor registration law taking effect in July. Current said Tuesday that a complaint and violation list to track contractors uses corporate and business names. “So if you have a record, you just change the corporation name and you get a clean slate,” he said. “I don’t know how the state is going to implement this by July 1. They still haven’t set a fee,” he added. The law will require all home improvement contractors doing business in PA to register with the state Attorney General’s office. The Pike County Builders Association has slated two informational seminars on the new law for March 10 at the Broad Street, BoardWalk Creamery, in Milford; at 2 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. Call 570-296-5589 for more information.
