Is it commercial or residential?
MILFORD Joan Gerland says she would be uncomfortable walking from her garage to her Pine Acres home at night if one of the houses in the development is allowed to be used as a group home. Paul Brooks, owner of Progressive Health of PA, is purchasing a home in the 20-home subdivision. But a letter from Brooks’ attorney to the Milford Township Supervisors argued that Brooks will not be using the Geraldine Fieg home as group home, “as defined in... Township Zoning.” The letter explains that three women, two of whom are local residents who have suffered traumatic injuries, will live there. “No business or trade of any kind,” and no staff will live there, according to the letter. Responding Monday at the Supervisors’ meeting, Township Building Officer Russell Current explained that six or more unrelated people must share a house for it to qualify as a group home under Milford’s zoning. Supervisors Chair and Milford Police Chief Gary Williams said that in his years on the force there have been “very few” problems with Brooks’ clients and Brooks’ staff is on call when there is. The supervisors told Gerland her neighbors would have to go to civil court to challenge Brooks’ plans.
