For motorists, oncoming traffic turned into a dark windshield blur on the US Route 6/209 three-lane Friday afternoon as a line of thunderstorms pushed through bringing sheets of rain, high winds, and hail, reported to the US Weather Service as 7/8” in diameter. Downed trees and branches cut power and made travel hazardous.
