It's bird, it's a plane, it's noisy

Dingmans Ferry - Dennis McMahon hasn’t been sleeping well lately, with the noise. A resident of the Birchwoods community, McMahon said low-flying commercial jets have been rumbling over his home on the half-hour at night, since mid-January. “They sound like big trucks going by in the street.” McMahon has called the airports at Scranton and Newburgh, N.Y., and the Federal Aviation Administration in Allentown, thus far, without satisfaction. The FAA told him increased traffic from Stewart Airport in Newburgh could be to blame. Officials at Stewart did not respond to a request for a comment as the Courier went to press. McMahon said his immediate neighbors have lost sleep, and wonders how many others have as well. The Courier is asking those living in the area, who have had a similar experience recently, to contact the paper at paoffice@strausnews.com.
