It's girl scout cookie time
MILFORD - The Sarah Wells Girl Scout Council cookie program is underway and continuing through Jan. 22. Girl Scouts are selling all of the old time favorite varieties with “zero trans fat” - the Thin Mint, Samoas, Do-Si-Dos, Trefoils, Tagalongs, All Abouts, Café Cookies and the new “Little Brownie” sugar free cookie. All varieties sell for $3.50 per box. Proceeds from the Girl Scout cookie sale remain in our area to benefit individual troops and the Girl Scout Council. The cookie sale supports special program projects and events, leadership training for Girl Scout volunteers, outdoor education activities and other events. The annual program also teaches girls important skills in team-work, managing money, setting goals and leadership. Safety procedures are reviewed with all girls and adults prior to beginning the program. Each parent/guardian must sign a permission slip allowing their child to participate in this program. All girls and adults are instructed in all safety procedures to follow, such as use of the buddy system, have an adult accompany the girl during the sale and not to enter someone’s home. Girls in the Sarah Wells Council will be taking orders through Jan. 22 and cookie booth sales will be held February through May. The Sarah Wells Girl Scout Council, a United Way Agency, serves more than 10, 000 members in Orange and Sullivan Counties in New York and five townships in Pike County, Pennsylvania.
