WESTFALL — The Pike County Agricultural Fair will take place from Aug. 14 to 18, behind the Best Western Inn at Hunt’s Landing. The fair, which will feature agricultural exhibits as well as local musical talent, will enjoy its second year at its current location; before 2006 the fair was held in Bushkill. The 2007 Agricultural Fair has been in the works since the 2006 fair ended, so it promises to hold a lot of excitement for all who attend. Each day of the fair features a theme, based on which musical attractions and contests are being held that day, culminating in a “Family Fun Day” on Saturday. On Tuesday, activities at the fair include “Opening Day Festivities.” The fair will open at 4:30 p.m., as it will during every weekday, at which time the agricultural exhibits will have already been judged. The rides, which are being provided by S&S Amusements, will open at 5 p.m. A Miss Pike County contest will be held at 7 p.m. on the main stage. Participants must be between the ages of 16 and 20, and must have registered before the event. Also on the opening day, fairgoers will have the chance to witness a Battle of the Bands, sponsored by Milford Music. Registration is currently taking place; forms can be found at Milford Music. The winning band will play on the main stage at 7 p.m. on Saturday, as well as receive prize money. Wednesday is “Variety Night,” and features acts as diverse as magician Joe Raven (5:30 p.m., main stage) and Eric Langberg, acoustic guitarist (6 p.m., main stage). Also, the Pike County Fair Talent Show will be held on Wednesday, with various acts competing for cash prizes as well as a chance to appear on stage at 1:15 on Saturday. Thursday is “Country Night” at the Pike County Agricultural Fair. The main attractions are Aaron Kelly at 7:00 p.m. and Cimmarron, back by popular demand, at 8:30 p.m. Cimmarron played at last year’s Agricultural Fair to great acclaim. They are a country band originally from Nashville, who now play in Pennsylvania. Friday will see a variety of acts which fall under the heading of “Rock & Blues Night,” including Eric Langberg and Bluestone, the headlining act at 8:30 p.m. on the main stage. This blues/rock band, comprised of four members on the guitar, drums, bass, and sax, plays at a number of local venues, with a mix of covers and originals. Saturday, the final day of the fair, will include a number of “Family Fun” activities. There will be a Teeny Tiny Pet Show at 1:30 p.m. in the Agricultural Tent, where fairgoers can show off their small pets. Also, local firefighters can compete for the “Courage Cup” at 2 p.m. in the Firefighter Competition, and a Dance Revue will take place on the main stage at 5 p.m. The fair’s 11th Annual Milking Contest will be held in the Contest Area at 6 p.m.; again, preregistration is necessary. Finally, Cruisin Down Memory Lane will present music from the 1950s at 8 p.m. on the main stage, followed by fireworks, at approximately 10 p.m. The Pike County Agricultural Fair is a non-profit organization, dedicated to providing great entertainment throughout the entire week of the fair. Admission to the event is $7 per person, with children under 2 being allowed in for free. Also, no credit cards will be accepted, and all events will take place rain or shine.
