Keeping the message on point - Media group is networking and getting advice
MILFORD Pike area professionals in the media and marketing fields have been getting together recently for lunch, and to meet others in the industry, discuss new projects and find ways to work together to further enhance their businesses and careers. “It is really a great networking tool that allows us to maybe meet new interesting people and learn about them, their business, what they offer and what they may have to offer in the way of advice, knowledge or contacts,” said organizer Katrina Foster. The last one was their second luncheon and Tracy Barone, the Executive Director of the Lackawanna County Convention and Visitors Bureau was their guest speaker. They will continue to have guest speakers at the events who share their experiences, especially on new and exciting projects or advancements. The program helps keep everyone informed, enlightened and interested, she said. Barone spoke about the improvements the bureau has gone through over the years, the way they are marketing the area, tourism and the new things that have been going on in Scranton, including The Office convention - which helped renew the city. Their luncheons are open to anyone in the industry who would like to attend. Organizers, Foster and Sean Strub encourage all those that are invited to invite other people. “It’s not an exclusive group; it’s relatively informal and we intend to keep it that way,” she said. Each lunch is only $15 and it is held the fourth Wednesday of every month at the Hotel Fauchere’s Delmonico Room. Lunch begins promptly at noon, but they encourage attendees to arrive early to mingle in the Conservatory.
