Kids go fishing with the commissioners

MILFORD — The Pike County Commissioners held their thirteenth annual Fishing Derby at Lilly Pond in the Pike County Park on Saturday, Apr. 18, and 273 children took part. There were random drawings and prizes were awarded to kids in various age groups. Fishing poles and rod & reel kits went to the following children for the largest catch: Age 5 and under - Dallas Case Jr, Gwendolyn Spadoni, Brian Kloetzer, Cheyenne Apgar; 6 & 7 year-olds - Zach Kelly, Michael Dzbenski, Fernando Cova Gomez, Andrew Bork; 8 & 9 year-olds - Justin Kohler, Trevor Oamil, Emily Struble, Margaret Polamick. Other winners were: 10 & 11 year-olds - Rhiannon Scillia, Danielle Martin, Michael Kimak, Rosario Farina; 12 & 13 year-olds - Dan Turton, Robert Villa, Tyler Cunard, Shawn Chelbus; 14 & I5 year-olds - Frank Hoffrnan, Nick Hoffman, Richard Chuck, and Raymond Miketta. The commissioners extended thanks to the sponsors and volunteers who made the event a success. They included: WalMart, Blooming Grove Hunting & Fishing Club, Matamoras Rod & Gun Club, Lone Pine Hunting Club, L.J. Bogumil Inc., TOP Hunting and Fishing Club, Popeye Charters-Captain Werner Stenger, James Leiser, the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, the McGrath family in memory of their beloved son & brother, Paul McGrath, by Jim, Linda, Alan, Rachel & Seth McGrath., M&S Sanitary Disposal, Charlie Billings, and the Eagle Deer Club.
