MILFORD — After 10 years on the borough council, and years of service toward local preservation and enhancement projects, Bill Kiger is going to take some time for himself. Councilman Kiger tendered his May 1 resignation at Monday’s council meeting. In the brief letter, Kiger said his years of service “have been satisfying, challenging, sometimes exasperating, but always stimulating. I would recommend it to anyone interested in getting to know how a borough ‘really’ works ....” “Milford Borough is a special place, and it has been an honor and pleasure to serve it,” he concluded. Council President Matt Osterberg served with Kiger during his tenure. He humorously recalled a litany of council topics over those years, ranging from the impact of cats on borough homes at his first meeting in 1998, to the location of a tatoo parlor at his last meeting. “Where would you have such a cross section of topics ... not many can say they have discussed subjects ranging from cat houses to tatoo parlors.” In a more serious vein, he added, “We have seen Bill, from the beginning, jump right into the Milford he loved as a child and chose to lead as an adult ... You will surely be missed.” Parting gifts included a plaque noting his service, and for a man known for and often seen, sweeping dirt at borough curbs, the “Prestigious Golden Broom and Dustpan,“ with which he is pictured
