Kitsch themes offered at new coffee shop

MILFORD n On April 18, of 2006, Patrick Federli and Amy Eisenberg got married and moved into their first home in Milford. How did the couple celebrate their first anniversary? They opened a coffee shop. At 5 o’clock that morning, the lights were on and the smell of coffee filled the air at Kaffeine & Kitsch, Milford’s newest coffee shop and nostalgia store. Located at 102 Route 6 at Apple Valley, chrome coffee percolators and kitchen scales line the shelves. As fans of all things 1940’s through the 60s, the couple decorated their store with vintage furniture and accessories from the era. A 1960 Rowe jukebox plays 45s in one corner across from a beverage cooler full of glass bottles of soda and juice. In another corner of the store, a dinette set from the 50s is topped with treasures from the same decade. Souvenir plates, collectible salt and pepper shakers, even a plastic PHILCO TV; the only thing cooler than the décor is the fact that it is all available for purchase. The daily menu features six varieties of traditional brewed coffee and 15 teas. Flavored coffees range from Toasted Almond to Kreamy Kahlua and may be purchased by the cup or by the pound. The house dark roast, Milford Mud, has become the store’s fast favorite with the Harford Street House Blend the close second. A large selection of rolls, bagels, and pastries is delivered fresh each morning and, as with it’s variety of antiques and beverages, are served with a smile. As Federli says, “If you do what you love, you have every reason in the world to smile.” Kaffeine and Kitsch is open for morning coffee service Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. until noon; weekend hours from 10 a.m.. Extended hours will begin in time for summer, with the addition of gourmet gelato and iced coffee to the menu. For more information, call Patrick and Amy at 570-409-9627.
