    Cops look for man, find dope LACKAWAXEN — State police on last Wednesday searched the woods south of the Lackawaxen Township Fire Station looking for Richard Moore, who had then been missing since the prior week. Instead they found 30 mature marijuana plants growing in the woods, which they seized as evidence and began an investigation of their ownership. A police statement said they had several suspects. Moore was said to have been found safe and unharmed later that same day. Stabbing suspects sought PORT JERVIS, N.Y. — City police are investigating a serious assault that occurred on Sept 11, at about 3:30 a.m. at the intersection of Ball Street and Seward Avenue. A 28-year-old male was repeatedly stabbed in the face, ear and torso multiple times, reportedly by two light skinned black males, 20-30 years of age. Driver safety courses WESTFALL — AARP safety and refresher driving courses are available in eight-hour and four-hour sessions for drivers 55 and older in October. Both courses will be given a Delaware Valley High School. The four-hour refresher course will be given on Monday, Oct. 18, from 5 to 9 p.m. The eight-hour course, for those who have not taken a prior driver safety course, will be given Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 25 and 26, from 5 to 9 p.m. To register or directions, call 570-296-3615. Law would ban unemployment debit cards at casinos BETHLEHEM — State Senator Lisa M. Boscola has announced that she is drafting legislation to prohibit the use of unemployment benefit debit cards at Pennsylvania casinos. Additionally, Boscola has sent a letter to the state gaming control board asking for the board to take action. “It has come to my attention that the debit cards provided to out of work Pennsylvanians work at the ATM machines located in Pennsylvania casinos,” Boscola stated. “Unemployment benefits are meant to provide individuals with the necessities of life and to pay their bills while seeking new employment. Unemployment benefits should not be easily accessible at casinos.” Welfare debit cards have already been prohibited at casino ATM machines Boscola added that she is currently having the legislation drafted with the intent of introducingthe legislation when the Senate reconvenes on Sept. 20.
