Proposed new Pike County Public Library going before borough architectural review board MILFORD — The Pike County Public Library has filed an application with the Milford Borough Architectural Review Board for the new Dorothy E. Warner library headquarters and community center planned for the site at 221 East Harford Street. The application and the plans submitted with it are available online at the library’s website, www.pcpl.org. The library encourages all interested Pike County residents to take a look to better understand what is being planned. The library building committee and board of directors have spent 18 months refining the design to take further into account Milford Borough’s Historic District Ordinance as well as public input. “The workshops with representatives from the review board and Milford Borough Council gave us the direction for making important changes in the design of the building,” said Dave Farrington, a member of the Library’s Board of Directors and Building Committee, who attended the workshops. The updated design submitted to the ARB, which is substantially modified from the initial design selected in a public competition in March 2007, meets the needs of the community as well as the mandates of the Historic District Ordinance. “We are very pleased with the revised design. It is a more efficient building and will create an inviting public space,” said Fred Schwartz, principal of Frederic Schwartz Architects, the architect for the building.
