— Brian Sullivan, a third-shift maintenance worker at Wayne Memorial Hospital for the past eight years, was named the facility’s 2016 Employee of the Year at the hospital’s annual holiday party on Dec. 10.
He was one of 12 employees-of-the-month in contention for the top honor, and he was awed that he had won.
“This is such an honor,” he said, “I am so grateful, really.”
His nomination form for Employee of the Month of December, which helped catapult him to Employee of the Year, was six pages long — all compliments, including “always demonstrates courtesy and respect” to “epitome of the phrase, team player.” What may make his nomination remarkable is that even though he works 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. and says he needs only four hours of sleep a day (plus a few naps), his coworkers say, “Brian always has a smile on his face.”
A resident of Beach Lake, Sullivan is married and the father of one grown daughter, Mallory. He worked at Belle Reve Senior Living Center in Milford before Wayne Memorial, and before that in hi-rise construction in New York City, where he also had a small plumbing business. Born in Yonkers, N.Y., and raised in Glendale, Calif., outside of Los Angeles, Sullivan found his way to Beach Lake about 40 years ago. He bought property and moved up permanently about 20 years ago. “I love it here,” he says, “and it was good for my daughter.”
The Employee of the Year honor, presented by CEO David Hoff, comes with a monetary award and a permanent spot on the Employee of the Year wall in the hospital.
At the hospital party at Fiorelli’s in Peckville, Hoff congratulated Sullivan and thanked all the other employees-of-the-month as well:

Emilia O’Donnell — May
