Chamber awards dinner rescheduled

— Businesses and business leaders across Pike County will be honored at the 2017 Pike County Chamber of Commerce Chamber Champions Awards Dinner, set for 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, at Silver Birches, 205 Route 507, in Hawley.
This reflects a change of the original September date announced for the dinner, in order to avoid conflict with a religious holiday.
"The Board of Directors of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce respectfully apologizes to the Jewish Community for scheduling our Chamber Champions Awards Dinner on the Jewish Holy Day of Yom Kippur," says a statement sent by the Chamber on Sept. 15. "It was an unfortunate oversight on our part. We truly appreciate the members of the Jewish faith who brought this to our attention. The chamber never willingly wanted to offend any faith and we are truly sorry. It is most important that we be respectful to all faiths. So to all of our neighbors and friends from the Jewish faith please accept our apologies. We hope you will join us on the new date November 3rd to celebrate our Chamber Champions at Silver Birches Restaurant on Lake Wallenpaupack."
Individuals and businesses in seven categories will be recognized for their extraordinary achievements and contributions to the county's economic development and quality of life. The event is by advance reservations only.
This year's "Chamber Champions" are:
Business of the Year — Key Food Marketplace in Milford
Person of Excellence — Matt Osterberg
Business Expansion Award — Luhrs True Value Hardware, Milford, and Woodloch Resort, Hawley
Individual Hometown Star Award — Amy Eisenberg
Organizational Hometown Star Award — Greater Pike Foundation
Rising Star Award — Justin F. Genzlinger, Settlers Hospitality Group, Hawley, and P.J. Wiebel, Econo-Pak, Milford
Non-Profit Organization of the Year Award — Safe Haven of Pike County and United Way of Pike County
Lifetime Achievement Award — Davis R. Chant
“We expect this event to be a highlight of the county’s social calendar, given the exceptional quality of these honorees,” said Jack Boyle, dinner chair.
Attorney Kelly Gaughan will emcee the evening, which will feature a cocktail reception (cash bar), dinner and program. Admission is $50 per person. For reservations call 570-296-8700 or email info@pikechamber.com.
“The overriding mission of the Pike County Chamber of Commerce is to accelerate business growth in Pike County, by promoting economic development while preserving and enhancing our community’s quality of life," says chamber president Jody Welsh. “The Chamber Champions awards program salutes those who are making a difference in advancing that mission.”
