— Pike County Judge Gregory H. Chelak and Chief Probation Officer Jeff Angradi attended the July 10 Pike County commissioners’ meeting, where July 16 to 22 was proclaimed to be "Pretrial, Probation and Parole Supervision Week."
Commissioner Steven Guccini read the proclamation.
“Is a time to recognize and celebrate the caring individuals in the community who work tirelessly to make Pike County safer and more vibrant to live and raise families and work to give parolees a second chance and to be productive members of the community," he said.
Angradi said the work was demanding, but, “at the end of the day, I believe it is very meaningful work.”
Judge Chelak said he appreciated the commissioners’ recognition of the probation officers’ work.
"I commend Jeff and his staff for the service they provide for the county and the court system," said Chelak. "I see it every day, and I certainly appreciate it on every day basis.”
Commissioner Guccini acknowledged the challenges of the job.
“There’s sometimes a fine line between trying to figure out how to help people back on their feet, and at the same time make sure the community is safe," he said. "A lot judgment calls. It’s a very difficult position, so we appreciate all that they do."
