Delaware Valley Action! recently announced the opening of the DVA! Community Engagement Center. This community-funded multifunctional space aims to serve as a hub for community connection, providing a space for diverse groups and activities.

According to DVA!, the Center is designed to be a dynamic space where community members, groups and organizations can meet, share ideas, and participate in a variety of activities, such as book clubs, craft circles, art classes, and poetry workshops, to name a few.

Starting in January, DVA!’s drop-in center will post its hours, during which time individuals are encouraged to connect, make friends and engage in activities such as playing games or ping pong, listening to poetry or working on puzzles from the puzzle library.

In addition, DVA! says it wishes to encourage community members with special talents to offer classes (one off or series) to the greater community. “Whether it’s starting a mystery book club, finding a D&D game, or connecting with crafters to use up your stash of scraps, we are encouraging people to use our space and find a group to join or start.”

The Center will also pilot a “free store” to provide essential items, initially diapers, wipes, menstrual products and laundry products. This no-questions-asked pantry aims to complement existing community services, addressing the needs of residents. This will be open during drop-in hours and by appointment.

Sneak preview opening event

DVA! will be hosting a Sneak Preview Opening Party at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at The DVA! Community Engagement Center, located at 315 Broad St., off of Apple Alley in Milford. Attendees are encouraged to bring an item to donate to the free store and celebrate the beginning of this new community initiative.
