Linda Demergis is formally announcing her candidacy for Pike County Prothonotary, thanks to the people who signed her nomination petition and have supported her choice to run for Prothonotary, a decision, she said, she did not take lightly.

Demergis started her career in the County in 2005, where she was a team member of the Prothonotary’s office. During the 15 years there, she had the opportunity to be trained in all aspects of the job including the responsibility of training new employees. She has been certified through the Department of State to process Passports and has attended classes to work in CPCMS.

Her working knowledge of the department is extensive, and she knows it is important that the next Prothonotary is not someone who will need on-the-job training. This is not a position of self-entitlement, but it is a position that comes with great responsibility. The Prothonotary needs to be a individual who is willing to work with department on a daily basis, while at the same time providing strong leadership.

In her time working for the county, she has established relationships with many attorneys, members of the community and county employees, all of which she values and respects. Her positions within the county, in the Prothonotary’s Office as well as in the Public Defender’s Office, has trained her to assist the public in a diverse number of ways.

There maybe people who are not familiar with the responsibility of the office. The documents that pass through the office all need to be handled in a timely fashion, with accuracy and discretion. Everything that comes from or goes to the Court, is processed through this office.

This is a Public Office that serves all members of the community, whether you are an Attorney looking to process a Civil Case, an individual that wants to file a Summary Appeal or you need to come in for a more sensitive matter like a Protection from Abuse or to file for Custody.

Demergis said has a vision on where this department needs to go, and she would like to have all members of the department cross-trained for a more efficient working environment and that she will also pursue an e-filing system.

The election will be held on May 16, 2023.
