Dingman considers three options for ballfield

DINGMAN TOWNSHIP — Plans for the new baseball field in the Dingman Township Park comes with three options, each with its own pros and cons, and different costs.
At the request of the Recreation Board, Thomas J. McLane Associates had prepared a drawing and a detailed analysis of the differences between them.
“If we leave it the way it is, it’s much harder to do anything later," Supervisor Dennis Brink said at the supervisors' recent board meeting.
The park already has a Master Plan, and renewal for the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System permit program is due.
Option 3 is to convert the proposed soccer field to a multi-purpose field, while Option 2 is “already near the park’s existing core activity areas; south to the existing ball fields and east of the playground.”
Option 1 is the existing Master Plan ball field location, east of the part entrance road.
Township secretary/treasurer Karen Kleist said stormwater management is a consideration. All would require parking lot modifications.
A meeting is scheduled for Aug. 28 with Thomas McLane and representatives from the Pike County Conservation District and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection. And with the new information, including costs, Dingman supervisors are expected to make their decision.
