DINGMAN TOWNSHIP — In a short meeting, Dingman Township Supervisors decided on two subdivisions/land developments, discussed the mild winter so far, briefly commented on the great state of its clean water, commented on sewer issues in Sunrise Lake, and read letters of appreciation from community among other, regular business.
Good Shepherd Child Care Center — Good Shepherd Child Care Center’s final land development was approved, as was Buccos sewage planning module on Cobb Road. Sewer/zoning officer Chris Wood said Buccos wanted to build a garage, and upstairs would be used as office a two in one system.
Water quality — Water issues came up with correspondence from Robert Kime of Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s Water Quality Standards Office.
Supervisors Chair Tom Mincer said the township is already blessed with exceptionally pure water quality, but “Several years ago people applied to have the water upgraded in status.”
He said the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) wanted an upgrade, adding, "but we already have exceptionally clean water, and that what question was about, what is the exceptional value.”
The DEP’s response was, “They don’t think it needs to be upgraded,” Mincer said.
Habitat for Humanity — Habitat for Humanity’s Pike County branch letter was read aloud by Mincer, expressing appreciation for the township’s lot improvement approval, and waiving the fees for the process again.
Unseasonable warmth — Mincer commented on the exceptionally warm winter, but expressed doubts it will continue for the rest of the season.
“All those nasty things, snow, ice, and freezing train, we’ve been very lucky,” he said.
He assured that the township is ready for anything that might come. “Our road crews are ready for it. I don’t think we’re going to be lucky in the second half of winter.”
'A quiet town' — Mincer summed up his feelings about Dingman Township: “We kept the taxes where they were, with everything that’s going on in the world, it’s a quiet, nice town. We’d like to keep it that way.”
