— A volunteer open house will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, at the Dorflinger Glass Museum at the Dorflinger-Suydam Wildlife Sanctuary in White Mills.
The museum and the Wildflower Music Festival are looking for volunteers to help during the 2017 season:
Help is needed from Wednesday to Sunday at the reception desk of the museum and at the gift shop.
The Wildflower concerts are Saturdays from July 1 to Aug. 12. Time commitments vary.
“Volunteering is great way to meet new people, have fun, and make a difference in the community,” said Executive Director Joan Gillner. “We couldn’t do what we do without our volunteers. Many great friendships have happened here among our helpers.”
Positions at the museum include receptionists and docents. The gift shop needs help in waiting on customers and stocking. Training will be provided.
The Wildflower Music Festival needs ticket sellers, ticket takers, help at the hospitality table, crowd control, and golf cart drivers. Volunteers can work one concert or several.
Anyone attending the open house will be given an overview of volunteer positions and a brief tour. Those who bring a friend will receive a gift.
The village of White Mills lies halfway between Hawley and Honesdale on Route 6. At the blinking light adjacent to the White Mills Hotel in White Mills, turn and go up the steep hill (Elizabeth Street) for 6/10 of a mile to the stop sign at a second blinking light. Continue on for 1/10 of a mile to the entrance of the Sanctuary on your right.
